International Award "Vicino Orsini"

V Centenary of Pier Francesco Orsini, Lord of Bomarzo.

On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the birth of Pier Francesco Orsini, known as Vicino (4 July 1523 – 4 July 2023), we created a unique jewel, entitled *“The embrace of Vicino and Giulia”*, dedicated to Vicino and his wife Giulia. This exclusive creation is the result of careful historical research on 16th century jewelery and the use of ancient artisan techniques, to pay homage to the historical and cultural greatness of the Orsini family. The work, conceived and created by Lino Perinelli, was donated to the Municipality of Bomarzo as a sign of esteem and respect.ç

Establishment of the Vicino Orsini International Award.

With Union Decree n°11, the *Vicino Orsini International Award* was established, which every year, on 4 July, will be awarded to figures who have distinguished themselves at a national and international level for their contribution to culture, art , or heritage preservation. At the first edition, scheduled for 4 July 2024, the award was awarded to Sofia Elena Rovati, a young Milanese entrepreneur, for her commitment to the restoration project of the Bisentina Island of Capodimonte.

The Prize: A reproduction of the jewel "The embrace of Vicino and Giulia".

The prize, intended for the winners of the prestigious award, is a faithful reproduction of the jewel "The embrace of Vicino and Giulia", created and donated on the occasion of the fifth centenary. With this symbolic tribute, the Municipality of Bomarzo celebrates the memory of Vicino Orsini and values ​​those who contribute to the conservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
